Awards & Recognition

Victoria University Secondary College is committed to ensuring that students are recognised and rewarded for their achievements and contributions within the school community.

As part of our Positive Behaviour Support framework, commendations are given to students each week who demonstrate our school values. 

Students are also encouraged to maintain a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates achievements and successes in areas such as:

  • Academic
  • Leadership
  • Community
  • Sport
  • Music and Performing Arts
  • Arts

At the end of each semester, students may qualify to be a recipient for an award in any one of the following categories:

  • Academic Excellence
  • Artistic Excellence
  • Outstanding Effort
  • Excellence in AVID
  • Contribution to the Community
  • Sporting Excellence

The students at VUSC are also fortunate to directly benefit from the many businesses, organisations and educational institutions that share partnerships with our College. The following are examples of scholarships and financial awards that are offered each year as a result of such partnerships:

ABCN Highly Commended Awards Awarded to high achieving Year 10 students who demonstrate exceptional dedication to their studies.
Hall and Wilcox Scholarship Award Awarded to a Year 12 student who has excelled in the area of Law.
Defence Force Long Tan Awards Awarded to Year 10 and 12 students for excellence in leadership and teamwork.
Defence Force Future Innovators Award Awarded to Year 10 and 12 students who have demonstrated innovation and learning in STEM. 
Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program Awarded to Year 10 students by the University of Melbourne to support high-achieving Victorian school students in realising their full potential.
Ampol Best All-Rounder Award Awarded to a Year 12 student in recognition of their achievements in academic, leadership, sporting and community service activities.
AMEB Awards Presented by the Australian Music Examinations Board to students who achieve excellent results in music.
Christos Siamas Memorial Award Presented to a student who has excelled in music and guitar. 
Western Chances Scholarships This scholarship supports motivated young people who work hard and may not otherwise have an opportunity to pursue their education and dreams.
HEADSTART Excellence Awards Awarded to students in the HEADSTART program who display persistence and commitment to their on the job training and studies. 
Academic Resilience Scholarship Award Awarded to a Year 11 student award who has had the determination and resilience to overcome obstacles in their life and continued to demonstrate outstanding effort in their studies. 
Fraser Young Leaders Award Awarded to Year 11 students who demonstrate strong community spirit.
