A special assembly at the Junior Campus was held recently to recognise the following students who have demonstrated the greatest effort and improvement in reading in semester one.
These students were nominated by their English teachers for meeting at least two of the following criteria:
- Development of reading goals and commitment to practice of strategies suggested by the teacher throughout the year
- Ability to read a variety of texts – both fiction and non-fiction and maintain a consistent reading log
- Commitment to reading in 10 minute blocks, and effective use of library time to read and reflect on reading in reading conferences with teachers and library staff
- Depth and development of reading journal responses

A huge thank you to the English teachers and the library staff for providing a selection of reading material to cater for all reading interests and putting the time and effort into the improvement of reading.
One student from each year level was also nominated to receive an Excellence Award for Outstanding Achievement in Reading. Students were nominated by their English teachers and selections were made in consultation with the Campus Principal and Village Leaders. These students were found to uphold the college value of ASPIRE TO ACHIEVE and STRENGTHEN THE COMMUNITY – they have worked above and beyond expected levels.
A huge congratulations goes to the following recipients of this award: Huy Ly 7B, Lisa Nguyen 8A and Jessica Nguyen 9E. The college is extremely proud of your achievements! Huy, Lisa and Jessica all received a certificate for the Outstanding Achievement Award in Reading and an Asus Tablet that was kindly donated to the College by our computer suppliers Centre Com.
