Throughout Year 9, students have the opportunity to engage in exciting new programs within a range of electives and specialised classes.

Students focus on developing their life skills by strengthening and engaging with the broader community. Students are also involved in a range of programs and initiatives designed to build their self-confidence, foster independent learning and develop a greater sense of respect for themselves as well as others, ensuring our students enter the Later Years with confidence and a clear sense of direction.

Our unique TEAM 9 Program assists students with their personal growth and development, and provides them with the opportunity to express themselves by experiencing a variety of activities which are challenging and engaging. Our college implemented this program in response to a nationally identified need to involve students at this age in authentic and relevant learning opportunities that include a mixture of real world and hands-on experiences combined with student led inquiry projects. The TEAM 9 course successfully improves the participation and connectedness of students to their learning and the development of leadership qualities in a team environment. The program is designed around three main elements relating to the college’s vision and values.

Some of the TEAM 9 activities throughout the year include:

  • Team building, resilience and relationships
  • Safety in the City
  • Amazing Race
  • Surf Life Saving
  • Healthy relationships and self-esteem
  • Cybersafety sessions
  • REACH Foundation Workshops
  • Party Safe Workshops
  • Careers and pathways counselling
  • The Big Idea Walk
  • and lots more
